Raw Pet Food – Is It Needed
These
days, animals have diseases that were unknown a few years ago. Most of these conditions can be traced back to the various sources of nutrition.
In a study conducted in Stockholm, it was revealed that when processed and cooked food was fed to young animals, they looked healthy in their early stages, but by the time these animals reached adulthood, they began to show signs of aging more quickly, compared to other animals, as well as developing symptoms of various chronic degenerative diseases.
In most ready made pet food, even if you buy the top brands, the nutritional value is altered and destroyed through processing by heat, preservatives, coloring and the use of chemicals. These factors are the cause for waste toxins to get accumulated in the lymphs, blood and tissue, hence weakening the immune system.
Like humans, animals need amino acids, enzymes and various other nutrients to stay healthy. These are all contained in . Any deficiency of these essential nutrients plus a lack of raw animal fat can cause coat and skin problems.
One third of an animal’s diet should be raw food, since its system is not designed to digest cooked fat or meat. Most pet owners worry about bacteria and parasites that can be found on raw meat. However, pets do not get salmonella poisoning due to the high acidic levels in their digestive system, that will kill the bacteria.
Pets require raw pet food similar to what they would find in nature, to strengthen their immune system. The food given to animals should provide all the essential nutritional parts that their bodies need to maintain good health.
Frozen raw pet food should be handled very carefully. Always make certain to wash your hands after handling raw meat or poultry. Try not to use the kitchen work top, but if you do so, disinfect it with an appropriate cleaner. You can use a mixture of vinegar and warm water for it as well.
When raw pet food is frozen, bacteria does not increase and might even be reduced due to the freezing temperature. When the frozen food starts to thaw, bacteria will breed again, hence the food must be used soon after defrosting. It is advisable to use ceramic, glass or stainless steel bowls. Clean these thoroughly with hot soapy water, as soon as your pet has been fed.
Raw pet food probably costs a bit more. However, it is worth it, because it saves quite a few vet consultations. Raw pet food will definitely give your pet a healthy, active and happy life.
